Dr. J. Bruce Burley feels privileged to be able to practice dentistry in his home community. After graduating from Williamsport High School, he went to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, receiving a B.A. degree in biology, cum laude. He continues to be “Proud to be a Demon Deacon.”
It was at Wake Forest that he met his wife, Connie, who was also a biology major. Dr. Burley earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland Dental School, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1986. While at the University of Maryland Dental School he was selected as a member of Gorgas Odontological Honor Society and the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society. He also served as co-editor of the Dental School yearbook, The Mirror.
He has practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in Washington County since 1986. Dr. Burley is a self-avowed “continuing education junkie”, spending many hours reading or taking courses related to dentistry. He enjoys fishing, golfing, cycling, and spending time with his family when he isn’t otherwise occupied with dental practice. He also teaches Sunday School at his church, where he serves on various committees.
His wife, Connie, is a biology teacher at Boonsboro High School. They have two children; Brandon, who is a student at the University of Maryland in College Park, and Allison, who is a student at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dr. Burley is a member of the American Dental Association and the Washington County Dental Society, having served as past president and past secretary of the dental society. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a member of the Academy for Computerized Dentistry and the Academy of Sports Dentistry.
