Crowns in A Single Visit?
We are proud to be the first dental office in the Western Maryland region to offer the CEREC 3D system. Computer assisted dentistry is the wave of the future, and is easily the most exciting dental advancement that I’ve seen in 20 years. CEREC is a revolutionary way to restore damaged teeth in a single visit, making teeth beautiful and stronger than before.

How does CEREC work?
Teeth that are broken or have very large fillings are prepared. After preparation, Dr. Burley uses a special camera to take a picture of the tooth. He works from this photo, which is actually a very sharp optical impression of the tooth. Computer Aided Design technology helps him design the restoration from the optical impression. You can actually watch him design your new restoration on a full color monitor right before your eyes! Then CEREC creates an extremely precise restoration. A high-speed diamond bur and a disk work simultaneously to mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. Finally, Dr. Burley bonds the new restoration to the tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry. Over a decade of clinical research and experience supports the CEREC technology and dentists have performed over four million CEREC restorations worldwide.

What advantages does CEREC offer me?
First and foremost, the restoration can be performed in a single session.

With CEREC there’s no reason to make an impression and send it to a lab. You won’t be inconvenienced by returning for a second visit. Secondly, the restoration is natural looking, because it is made of tooth-colored ceramic material. It’s metal-free, with no silver fillings to discolor your smile. The ceramic material is compatible with the tissue in your mouth and is high-grade, anti-abrasive and plaque and stain resistant. It allows extreme precision, saving more of the healthy part of your tooth.
